Calvary Baptist Church is serious about the Great Commission Mandate the Lord gave to us in Matthew 28. To that end “Bible Based Evangelism” is part of our mission statement.
The implementation of this mission statement works out as follows;
First, we assemble a number of men (we would like to add some ladies as well, as the Lord leads) Saturday mornings at 9:15 AM at the church. After a short devotion and prayer, street assignment are made by Pastor Wood, the outreach director, and teams of two literally go out “into the highways and hedges” to compel them to come in. We knock on doors in the neighborhood, introduce ourselves and gently invite people to our church services. As the Lord leads, during these initial conversations with total strangers, we try to determine their spiritual condition by asking two “diagnostic” questions. Based on these answers and their willingness to listen, we share the good news about the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them.
Our approach is intended to be kind, courteous, and polite, always trying to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading in the heart of the person we are speaking with.
Please pray with us for this “seeding ministry.” We believe in the Biblical truth revealed in 1Co 3:6 “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.” Therefore, we want to be obedient to the Word of God in this area of evangelism, but God is the One Who regenerate, justifies, and saves.”
